The COMPANY of PLAYERS

Hertford Theatre Week 2005

Putting up flatsThe Company of Players are regular performers at Hertford Theatre Week and this year we took our production of Death And The Maiden to the festival .

Theatre Week has been an annual event in the town's calendar since 1962. Six amateur drama companies compete for five prizes, including the Mercury Challenge Cup and the Ted Harden Rose Bowl.

This year's competition featured groups from Hertford, Welwyn Garden City, Bovingdon and Preston, each having a day to construct their set, master the technical facilities and perform in the evening.

The Company have won the event on three occasions, most recently in 2003, sweeping the board and winning three prizes with our production Peggy For You. We have also been runners-up seven times.

The photographs below show the progress of the day from arival at Castle Hall at around 9:30am, through set construction to the technical rehearsal.
