The COMPANY of PLAYERS

Hertford Theatre Week 2002

Castle HallThe Company of Players are regular performers at Hertford Theatre Week and this year we took our production of The Memory Of Water to the festival, winning the Audience Appreciation Award and coming third on points.

Theatre Week has been an annual event in the town's calendar since 1962. Six amateur drama companies compete for five prizes, including the Mercury Challenge Cup and the Ted Harden Rose Bowl.

This year's competition featured groups from Hertford, Welwyn Garden City, Southend, Broxbourne and Bedford, each having a day to construct their set, master the technical facilities and perform in the evening.

The Company have won the event on two occasions, most recently in 1996, and have been runners-up seven times.

The photographs below show the progress of the day from loading the set onto the van at around 8:30am, through set construction, rehearsal at 3:00pm, interval, chatting after the performance with the adjudicator, and finally loading the van to take the set back to The Little Theatre at 11:00pm.
